Your competition history matters. Personal bests, season progression, event-by-event results - this data tells the story of your athletic career. FieldSync's athlete profile system gives every athlete a centralized home for all of it, starting from the moment you create your account.
Automatic Profile Creation
When you sign up for a FieldSync account and select "Athlete" as your role during onboarding, a personal athlete profile is created for you immediately. There's no extra setup step, no form to fill out, and no approval to wait for.
Your profile is initialized with your display name and gender from your account. From there, it grows automatically as you compete in FieldSync-scored meets and as you link your competition history.
What's on Your Profile
An athlete profile includes several sections that build over time:
- Personal information - Name, affiliation/team, gender, school level, graduation year, hometown, and optional bio. You can edit these from your Account page at any time.
- Personal bests - Your all-time best mark in each event, pulled automatically from competition results. PBs are calculated across all meets in the system.
- Competition history - A chronological list of every meet and event you've competed in, with marks, placement, and links to the full event results.
- Season progression chart - A visual graph showing how your marks in each event have changed over the season. This is especially useful for coaches tracking athlete development and for athletes spotting trends in their performance.
- Video highlights - If your attempts were recorded through FieldSync's video system, they're attached to your profile alongside the marks.
Linking Competition Results
If you competed in a FieldSync-scored meet before creating your account, those results exist in the system under your name - they're just not linked to your account yet. Here's how to connect them:
- Go to your Account page and find the "My Athlete Profile" section.
- If your profile doesn't have competition data yet, you'll see a prompt: "Have competition results? Search for your name to link them."
- Use the Search Athletes feature to find your competition profile by name.
- Tap "Claim This Profile" on the matching result.
- FieldSync links your competition history to your account instantly.
The claim system uses name matching to verify the connection. Once claimed, your profile merges: all your competition marks, PBs, and progression data appear under your account.
What Happens If You Already Have a Profile
FieldSync handles the common scenario where an athlete creates an account (getting an empty auto-profile) and later wants to claim a competition profile with existing results. When you claim a competition profile, the system seamlessly replaces your empty auto-created profile with the one that has your competition data - no duplicate profiles, no lost data.
Sharing Your Profile
Every athlete profile has a public URL that you can share with coaches, recruiters, or anyone else. The profile page shows your personal bests, competition history, and progression charts - giving recruiters or college coaches a comprehensive view of your capabilities without requiring them to create an account.
Followers can also follow your profile to receive notifications whenever new results are posted for you.
Profile + Goals Integration
Your athlete profile feeds directly into the Goal Tracking system. When you set a qualifying goal, FieldSync pulls your current PB from your profile to calculate progress. As you compete and your PB updates, your goal progress updates automatically - no manual entry needed.
This creates a seamless loop: compete -> results are recorded -> PB updates -> goal progress recalculates -> you get notified.
For Coaches
Coaches can view any athlete's profile through the Search Athletes tool. Use it to:
- Scout potential recruits by reviewing their competition history and progression.
- Monitor your own athletes' development across meets.
- Compare athlete trajectories side by side.
