Competition results tell you what happened. Achievements tell the story of your journey. FieldSync's badge system recognizes milestones across your entire athletic career - from your very first login to your 25th competition. With 20 badges spread across 7 categories, there's always something to work toward.

How Badges Work

Badges are awarded automatically. There's no button to click and no form to submit. FieldSync monitors key actions - saving an attempt, following an athlete, creating a meet, setting a goal - and checks whether you've met the criteria for any unearned badge. If you have, it's awarded instantly and a feed event is created so your followers see it too.

The hooks that trigger badge checks are embedded throughout the platform:

The Achievement Tab

Your achievements live on the Achievement tab of your profile. It shows:

All 20 Badges by Category

Here's every badge in the system, what category it belongs to, how to earn it, and its tier.

👋 Onboarding (3 badges)

These badges recognize your first steps on FieldSync. Every new user can earn all three within minutes of signing up.

🏅 Competition (5 badges)

Competition badges reward consistency. The more meets you show up to, the higher you climb.

📈 PRs (4 badges)

Personal records are the heartbeat of individual sport. These badges celebrate the marks that define your career.

🏆 Placements (2 badges)

Placement badges recognize where you finish, not just what you throw or jump.

🎯 Goals (2 badges)

Goal badges reward the planning side of athletics - setting targets and hitting them.

👥 Social (1 badge)

Social badges recognize your presence in the FieldSync community.

🏗️ Director (2 badges)

These badges are for the people who make meets happen - the directors and officials who keep the sport running.

Tier Breakdown

The four tiers reflect difficulty and commitment:

Badges + Feed Integration

Every badge you earn creates an event in the Activity Feed. Your followers see a card announcing which badge you unlocked, its tier, and its category. This means badges aren't just personal milestones - they're visible accomplishments that your community can celebrate with you.

You can filter the feed to show only badge events, making it easy to see who's been earning what across the athletes you follow.

Strategy: How to Earn Them All

Some badges come naturally through competition. Others require intentional action:

  1. Start with Onboarding - Sign up, upload an avatar, set your name, and follow someone. That's 3 badges in under a minute.
  2. Set a goal early - Create a qualifying goal before your first competition. You'll earn Goal Setter immediately and be tracking toward Standard Breaker.
  3. Compete regularly - On the Board comes from your first meet. Regular (5), Veteran (10), and Iron Athlete (25) reward showing up consistently season after season.
  4. Diversify your events - Multi-Threat requires 3+ different events. If you normally throw shot put and discus, try javelin or weight throw at your next meet.
  5. Chase PRs - New Heights, On a Roll, Record Machine, and Hot Streak all come from setting personal records. Focus training on breaking your own marks.
  6. Build your following - Rising Star needs 10 followers. Share your profile link with teammates, coaches, and competitors.

Get Started

Your Achievement tab is waiting. Sign up for FieldSync (that's your first badge right there), complete your profile, follow an athlete, and you'll have three badges before you even head to the field. From there, every competition, every PR, and every goal brings you closer to the full set of 20.
